RAINY DAYS

The heaven's have opened up here in Johannesburg and our rivers are in flood!

It's quite amazing to see the small, usually unnoticed things that are happening in this weather...

...Like the flying ants as they creep out of their holes and take flight. And the ever-in-waiting, industrious geckos which take full advantage of the abundance!

Whilst we go about our daily activities, don't forget to notice the exuberance of God's creation!

AN UNPLAYED PIANO

It seems that inspiration happens in cycles.

I confess...For some time now, I have battled to conjure up the motivation to practice my piano. Somehow the inspiration I had about 4 years ago has disappeared. My beautiful piano sits in its soom untouched - its melodies just wait to explode from its heart. But for some reason, my inspiration evades me and my piano sits and waits. How do I break this cycle?

Any suggestions?

SANCTUARY

We all need a sanctuary... a special place where we can retreat, reflect and regain our equilibrium. City life brings the challenge of finding such a place amidst hectic lifestyles. Indeed such sanctuaries are scarce and sometimes our only resourt is to simply close our eyes and imagine ourselves at such a place.

When I was little, that place was next to our waterfall on our old farm. I spent many hours there contemplating the meaning of my own existence and simply merging into God's creation.

The photograph above was recently taken in the Drakensberg. This particular waterfall was incredibly peaceful and the water just seemed to wash away all my stress . Its entire ambience was reflective of my childhood sanctuary.

In the absence of a City sanctuary, this photo now acts as the catalyst to my calmness. I hope it can also do so for you.

THE BEAUTIFUL DRAKENSBERG!

We have just returned from spending five magnificent days in the Kwazulu Natal Drakensberg - the biggest mountain range in South Africa. We stayed at Cathedral Peak Hotel. Our stay was complemented with wonderful staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable.

The hotel, together with its beautiful little wedding chapel, is set in the midst of mountains which reach up to 3000m above sea level. It is one of the few unspoiled places left in South Africa and is part of a world heritage site. It offers some of the most spectacular walks and hikes ever. I thought I'd share some of my photos with you....
